Ben at the lab

Two weeks ago, we gained insight into the fascinating world of our warehouse, where the magic of our sustainable fabric company comes to life. Our visit was a journey through the meticulous process that ensures every meter of fabric leaving our warehouse is of exceptional quality.

Our tour began at the imposing fabric inspection machines, where fabric rolls are gently unrolled and scrutinized for defects. The back of these machines revealed a ballet of precision: individuals meticulously examining every inch of fabric for holes, stains, and other imperfections. Each flaw is carefully marked and documented in an inspection report, a testament to our dedication to quality and transparency.

At WKS

The journey continued to the doubling machine, a place where fabric is skillfully folded and rolled onto a board. It was fascinating to watch how smoothly the fabric continued its journey, perfectly prepared for the hands of our customers. Special attention was given to the meter counter displaying the length of fabric rolled onto the boards. In our case, always a precise 10 meters, a standard reflecting our commitment to consistency and accuracy.

Our tour also took us to the heart of the WKS Eurofins laboratory, a place of strict standards and meticulous precision. Here, at a constant temperature of 20° Celsius and 65% humidity, our fabrics are tested under conditions that are uniform across all standardized testing laboratories. It was impressive to witness the standardized washing machine in action, testing our fleece samples in a simulated "normal" washing process.

The preparation of the detergent, a meticulous blend of powder and softened water, was further evidence of our care. The fabric samples, precisely cut to a 50x50 cm size, were prepared for the shrinkage test, labeled, and pre-measured. After washing, they were hung up to dry and later accurately measured to determine the shrinkage values.

To conclude our visit, we witnessed the loving craftsmanship involved in picking your orders, individually cutting fabrics, and assembling patterns. Each order, a unique creation, is treated with the utmost care before it leaves our warehouse to transition into your creative hands. The small parts magazine, a kaleidoscope of our diverse fabric patterns, demonstrated how each order is assembled with dedication before being carried into the world by our reliable shipping service providers.

This visit was not only a confirmation of our commitment to quality and sustainability but also a reminder of the passion and craftsmanship embedded in every meter of fabric that we proudly offer.
