Linen fabrics

Linen fabric – a fashionable it-piece since many years

Flax, which forms the basis for Linen fabric, is one of the oldest cultivated plants about which we know something. More than 5000 years of history lie on it and yet today it is more in demand than ever before. However, the path to this was not always free of obstacles.

Initially, this was due to the obvious economic advantages of cotton. Yarn production and weaving were not only easier with cotton, but also much faster – quantity was clearly more important than quality.

It was not until the 1970s that the beautiful material fought its way back into wardrobes, where synthetic materials had previously found their way - albeit at the price of being regarded as old-fashioned and too ecological. A lot has happened since.

Things that make Linen fabric so special, and how to take care of it

Linen fabric is an unbelievably great material – and that is some quite objective observation. The yarn can be spun so finely that the resulting Linen fabric is smooth and hardly lets air pass through. Nevertheless, you won't sweat, because Linen is absolutely breathable and temperature-regulating.

  • Fluff? Bacteria? Microbes? They have no chance! Linen fabric does not contain any air inclusions and offers anything but a nice environment for unwanted guests.
  • Linen fabric also regulates moisture. It absorbs sweat very quickly, but releases it again just as quickly - and therefore has the peculiar effect of both cooling and warming!
  • Linen may not be elastic, but does not wrinkle either. Instead it shines - not only when the sun is out! The Linen fabric does not like friction at all. That's why it's best to always wash it in the gentle cycle and avoid ironing it if possible.
  • Linen is on the rise! When combined correctly, it can even be considered high fashion. Very popular are two-piece shirts, blazers or oversized shirts, which you like to wear casually and pretend to be a famous artist. Linen fabric formulates a statement that radiates much more than ecological awareness!
